The 8th of August 2004 was a red-letter day for the fledgling Alumni of
Our Lady Of Good Counsel. It was on this day that the first step was taken
as per the Articles of Association of the Trust.
The combined efforts of the Managing Committee and the Municipal employees
of Sion Hospital, fructified in to a successful blood donation camp. We
collected a total of 25 bottles of blood, which will go a long way in
saving lives of people in need. The collection would have been better
but for the stringent norms for blood donation. More than 50 volunteers
were sent back as they did not meet the norms, such as "no consumption
of alcohol 72 hrs prior to the bleeding", "should have had breakfast",
etc.
We had a number of ex-students who came in to donate blood...a notable
example was Dr. Sharat Menon who took a short break from his duty at the
hospital, to come and donate blood. The local corporator Mr. Babu Bhai
Bhavanji also visited the camp and was very impressed that the OLGCHS
Alumni had organized a camp without any ulterior motives, and that the
trust was genuinely working for social causes.
